Motorhomes and recreational vehicles are a great way to see the countryside. Modern motorhomes offer most of the conveniences that a small sized home does, and with the added convenience of complete mobility. That said, however, most motorhomes suffer from a very predictable shortcoming – space is at a premium.

Attached to the awning rail of your motorhome is a contraption that, when fully unpacked, provides a ‘canopy’ right next to your motorhome. Usually, the motorhome itself forms a wall for the canopy. While such structures are usually more open than drive-away motorhome awnings, they have the considerable advantage of being far more light, and far more easy to assemble and dismantle. On the flip side, they provide far less protection from the elements when compared to a drive-away motorhome awning.

Do make sure you have your purpose clearly defined before you go in for either kind – if you are going to be motoring along in a climate that is warm and friendly, a canopy motorhome awning is just what the doctor ordered. On the other hand, if it is going to be the kind of trip that has inclement written all over it, you might want to go in for a drive-away motorhome awning.
